About Go Fish

Go Fish is the friendly card game of asking and remembering. Ask another player for a rank you already hold, like sevens. If they have any, they hand them all over and you ask again. If not, they say "Go fish!" and you draw from the pond. Collect all four cards of a rank to make a book, and whoever makes the most books wins. Play two to six, against the computer at three levels, passing one device around, or at an online table with friends.

How to play Go Fish

  1. Everyone gets seven cards with two or three players, or five cards with four to six. The rest of the deck is spread face down as the pond.
  2. On your turn, ask one other player for a rank you already hold: "Do you have any sevens?" You may only ask someone who still has cards.
  3. If they have any, they must give you all of them, and you ask again.
  4. If they have none, they say "Go fish!" and you draw a card from the pond. Draw the rank you asked for and you show it and ask again; otherwise your turn ends and play passes to your left.
  5. Whenever you hold all four cards of a rank, lay them down as a book. If your hand runs empty, you draw a card from the pond before you ask; with the pond empty too, you are out but keep your books.
  6. When all 13 books are made, the player with the most books wins. Players with the same number share their place.
