About Chinese Checkers

Chinese Checkers is a race across a six-pointed star. Each player starts with ten pegs in one point of the star and must move them all into the point directly opposite. Pegs step to a neighboring hole or hop over other pegs, and a well-built ladder of pegs can carry one across the board in a single turn. Play the computer at three levels with up to five computer players, or share the device with up to five friends.

How to play Chinese Checkers

  1. Two, three, four or six players each start with ten pegs filling one point of the star. Your target is the point directly opposite your home.
  2. On your turn, move one peg: step it to an empty neighboring hole, or hop it over one neighboring peg of any color into the empty hole just beyond.
  3. After a hop you may keep hopping from the new hole, in any direction, and stop after any hop. Hopped pegs stay where they are; nothing is captured.
  4. A peg may pass through any hole, but it may end its move only in the central hexagon, in its own target, or in its own home before it has ever left. Once a peg reaches its target, it stays there.
  5. You win when every hole of your target is filled, with at least one of your own pegs. Opponents’ pegs that have never left home count as filling it, so nobody can block you by staying put.
  6. If nobody has won after every player has had 200 turns, players are ranked by pegs in their target, then by how far their pegs still have to go.
