About Five Dice

Five Dice is the classic scorecard dice game, played with the public-domain Yacht card. Roll five dice up to three times a turn, keeping any you like between rolls, then write the result into one of thirteen boxes: the six faces, three and four of a kind, a full house, two straights, five of a kind and chance. Each box takes one turn, so the card fills in thirteen rounds. Chase your best score alone, take on the computer at three levels, or pass the device around a table of four.

How to play Five Dice

  1. On your turn, roll all five dice. You may then set aside any dice and roll the rest, twice more at most.
  2. After any roll, choose one empty box on your card and score the dice there. After the third roll you must score.
  3. The upper boxes score the dice showing their face. Reach 63 in them for a 35-point bonus.
  4. Three and Four of a Kind score the sum of all five dice. A Full House (three plus two) scores 25, a Small Straight (four in a row) 30, a Large Straight (five in a row) 40, Five of a Kind 50, and Chance the sum of anything.
  5. If the dice don’t fit a box you want, you may score 0 in any empty box.
  6. After thirteen rounds every card is full. The highest total wins; alone, beat your best score.
